On 13 February 2026, EKONID supported the Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), in convening a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Business Roundtable on Quality Infrastructure in Jakarta. The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regulatory dialogue and technical cooperation between Indonesia and Germany, particularly in areas that facilitate trade and investment.

The roundtable gathered 18 representatives from 12 companies and industry organisations active in Indonesia, including stakeholders from the manufacturing, certification, chemicals and business association sectors. The session provided a structured platform for the private sector to share practical insights on quality infrastructure systems that influence market access, regulatory compliance and cross-border trade.

Discussions concentrated on three priority topics: developments surrounding the Indonesian–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU CEPA), the mandatory implementation of Indonesian National Standards (SNI), and the Digital Product Passport (DPP). Participants emphasised the importance of regulatory clarity, transparent conformity assessment procedures, and greater alignment between Indonesian and European standards frameworks to ensure predictability for businesses operating in both markets. Compliance challenges and opportunities to improve procedural efficiency while maintaining high product and safety standards were also addressed.

GPQI Indonesia initiatives were presented as a multi-stakeholder platform under the Indonesian–German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure, facilitating technical exchange and structured cooperation. The dialogue enabled the collection of industry input, helping to identify key priorities and areas where bilateral collaboration can provide practical support to the private sector.

As the first engagement of 2026 under this framework, the roundtable marked an important milestone in reinforcing cooperation between public institutions and industry representatives. The insights gathered will contribute to shaping the 2026–2027 Workplan of the Indonesian–German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure and will be further advanced during the upcoming business delegation visit of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to Indonesia in May 2026.

EKONID remains committed to supporting quality infrastructure development as a cornerstone of sustainable trade, regulatory alignment and long-term economic cooperation between Indonesia and Germany.
