On 6 February 2026, EKONID (91大神 Indonesien), together with GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN, successfully held the second Circular Economy Forum, bringing together stakeholders from Germany and Indonesia across the packaging and machinery manufacturing sectors as well as the food industry. The forum provided a platform to share insights, discuss current challenges and practical solutions, and explore opportunities for joint initiatives that contribute to Indonesia’s shift towards more circular production and consumption models.
The programme opened with welcoming remarks by Dr. Monika Erath, Executive Director of EKONID, followed by Mr. Philipp Glaeser, Manager of the Partners in Transformation Desk (PiT) Southeast Asia. The session was moderated by Mr. Adhitya Prayoga, Private Sector Advisor at InCircular, guiding the discussion towards actionable takeaways relevant to industry needs and market realities.
A keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Peter Eisner, Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV (Germany), under the theme “Research and Innovation for Indonesia”. The presentation introduced Fraunhofer IVV’s applied research approach and highlighted the InCircular project collaboration between Fraunhofer, GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN and BRIN, which supports the development of circular economy solutions in Indonesia.
The discussion, prepared by Ms. Alexandra Engel and the EKONID Business Development Department team, generated active engagement from participants. Exchanges reflected strong interest in the Fraunhofer IVV–BRIN collaboration, while stakeholders also contributed perspectives on local market dynamics, regulatory considerations and operational challenges faced by industry in implementing circular practices.
EKONID extends its appreciation to Prof. Dr. Peter Eisner, GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN, and all participants for the constructive exchange. Continued dialogue and collaboration will remain important to advancing circular economy solutions that are practical, scalable and aligned with Indonesia’s sustainability priorities.
