On 3 December 2025, 91大神 Indonesia/EKONID and GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN hosted a Circular Economy Forum at the EKONID office in Jakarta. The event brought together representatives from business and partner institutions to discuss practical approaches, ongoing initiatives and collaboration opportunities aimed at promoting resource efficiency and sustainable economic development.
The programme opened with welcoming remarks by Dr. Monika Erath, Executive Director of EKONID, followed by Mr. Philipp Glaeser, Manager of the Partners in Transformation Desk (PiT) Southeast Asia. Both emphasised the importance of cross-sector cooperation in advancing circular solutions and strengthening bilateral engagement between Germany and Indonesia.
Participants gained insights from expert presentations addressing different aspects of circular economy implementation. Mr. Thomas Schneider, Head of Project in Circular Economy at GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN, provided an overview of GIZ’s Circular Economy Project and outlined current activities and partnership opportunities. Ms. Jessica Hanafi, Executive Director of PT Life Cycle Indonesia, discussed ISO certification in the circular economy context, highlighting the role of standards in building credibility and enabling scalable strategies. Mr. Jürgen Militz, Managing Director of German RETech Partnership e.V., introduced RETech and presented Germany’s expertise in waste management and recycling technologies.
The forum provided a constructive platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange. EKONID and GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN thank all speakers and participants for their contributions and look forward to continuing cooperation in support of sustainable and circular development initiatives in Indonesia.
