Why I walked away from a million dollar recording contract so that I could put my well-being first

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]In 2012, after 15 years of being a high-profile entrepreneur, juggling my behind the scenes work as a Success Coach and Celebrity Branding Specialist Consulting with Academy and Grammy winners, New York Times Best Selling Authors and high-profile companies around the globe, as well as my career as a recording artist, I got burnt out. I was toast. I even ended up walking away from a million dollar recording contract because I needed to put my well-being ahead of my success for a white and start to make room for myself in my own life again.

 

For the next two years I made it my mission to find a way to have realistic and maintainable life balance while having a high-profile career. I took a big step back so I could get some perspective and re-evaluate why I had gotten into burnout in the first place and what I could do to get my passion and inspiration back and prevent burnout from happening again in the future. During those two years, I discovered how my own paradigms of success were holding me back from experiencing success and well-being at the same time. 

 

Since childhood, I had always been what could be considered as a high achiever. However, as a high-achieving female, my intelligence and talent were often underestimated and I felt like I needed to work harder and prove myself because I was a girl. When I was 14 years old, I was brought into the office of the Recording Arts teacher at my high school and told that none of the boys wanted me in their bands because “girls can’t rock”. I vowed at that moment to prove them wrong, but unfortunately I didn’t realize the toll it would take on my life to put my success and achievement before my well-being. I have always had a passion for knowledge and being an entrepreneur, I started college when I was 15, opened my first business at age 18 and became a college professor of marketing at age 25. Little did I know that for all of those years, I had been basing too much of my self-worth and self-esteem on my success, which made me feel like I always needed to be constantly in motion, either taking care of things for my business or my household and if I wasn’t constantly in motion taking care of things, then I felt like I was being lazy and giving myself too much slack, which made my self-worth and self-esteem go up and down like a teeter-totter. I had unknowingly mentally adopted a toxic success mindset

 

I created my holistic success method to help myself get out of burnout so that I could begin to enjoy my life and my business again and have success while having my well-being. I hadn’t realized it, but for all of those years leading up to my burnout, I had been putting my well-being on the back burner and it finally caught up with me. 

Since burnout is affecting more and more professionals now than ever before in history, I refined my method of holistic success and created “The WildFlower Holistic Success Method” along with Holistic Success Institute to help highly successful and high-achieving professionals and entrepreneurs explore and redefine their own definition of success so that they can kick stress and burn out to the curb and reclaim their well-being while having highly successful careers and businesses. 

At Holistic Success Institute we help our students and clients redefine what success means to them so that they can create more peace, flow, ease and higher levels of productivity while making room for their families, their health, their fun and themselves in their own life. We help you understand why it is you do what you do and why it is you believe what you believe about your success and well-being so that you can become empowered to make the adjustments necessary in order to reclaim your well-being. We also help you to create firm boundaries around your time, energy and attention so that you can navigate and minimize the five different types of fatigue, (decision fatigue, activity fatigue, physical fatigue, mental fatigue and emotional fatigue) and begin to understand what actually drains your energy and what gives you energy and inspiration so that you can maximize your productivity and strategically take things off your to-do list to help you prevent or recuperate from burnout.
